What's with kpop groups these days releasing on Fridays instead of Mondays

  • besides select few, most of their charting outside kr or maybe japan are subpar or below average or do companies want to mediaplay their acts placing top 10 on bb200 albums chart which doesn't hold that much value in recent years tbh. Monday releases are always better for korean charting. Discuss.

  • They must it's in the contract with US labels

  • it's for the u.s. and youtube but I miss the days when no one released on fridays except for IU and she only did it because of her song "friday"

  • Because korean charts are becoming less and less relevant. Kpop has moved on to the west for major groups. Billboard is what people care about now, you aint successful anymore if you just make it big in korea, companies and investors want to see that international success

  • They already gave up in korean charting so it's whatever, funny thing is they don't chart at all internationally either, except for bb200 but they would do so with pure sales regardless since most copies are sold the first day

  • We aren't in second and third generation anymore. International achivements has been the top priority for a group's success this era, including for the companies

  • Korean success is not important at all. NCT dream are selling as much as 127 but can't tour at all so who's bringing more money?
