Will Yujin eclipse Wonyoung in popularity in the long-run like how Apink's Eunji eclipsed Naeun?

    Are Wonyoung and Yujin another case of Apink's Eunji and Naeun, where in the long-run, the more talented and public-friendly member overtakes the model-like visual of the group?


    While Apink's Naeun was almost like an IT-girl during her prime days, with TV variety appearances and CFs everywhere, as well as being the main character in PSY's New Face, her fame has gradually declined, and being overtaken by the newer and fresher younger idols that come out every year.


    On the other hand, Eunji has always been the friendly, talented member, with solo songs, albums, and OST works that the public loves (might not be so much in the international sphere but still). Her acting career has always been consistent, i.e. Reply 1997 and her latest drama Work Later, Drink Now was popular and got renewed for a second season. She's also active in the variety scene, and appears here and there.


    Will the same happen to the IVE duo? While Wonyoung's got the current buzz, and her stock has never been higher, Yujin is always seen as the friendly, puppy-like member. She got casted in a Na PD variety show, and slowly raising her public recognition as more than just "the other Iz*One member alongside Jang Wonyoung". Many also anticipate she'll be acting in the future, we'll see how that goes, but the point remains.


    There are many visual, almost-IT-girl like idols in the past, but only a few really keep their presence in the long-run. How will Jang Wonyoung fare and will talent eventually win out in the long-run?

    eunji got popular aside from her taldnts because of her variety skills and acting. We need to see if yujin is going into acting and land successful dramas first.

    I don’t think so. Is Yujin even that talented? In IVE yes she’s the most talented but you’re comparing her to Eunji who is a really great vocalist. If we’re comparing Yujin’s vocals to Eunji’s they are below average to average at best so not so far from Wonyoung. Wonyoung seems like she is just too far ahead right now but no doubt Yujin is better at variety than Wonyoung. Wonyoung is going to get the brand deals though cause of her popularity and image right now.

    If yujin goes into acting and succeeds she’ll probably have more longevity

    Acting will require showing emotions and with fillers/botox preventing you from even smiling, we will see. If she doesn't mess/stops messing with her face the way Wy with fillers does and goes into acting, then yeah. Wy already has this puffy cloud face thing going on and she couldn't move her face properly when her fan called her. Yujin minimal fixing of her face is perfect.

    I think I've read knetz and others commenting how Yujin has actress looks/mature vibes. Kdramas can get you real international attention(squid game and others) that is not limited kpop fandom. Seojung already has millions of likes per post, so Y just needs some cheesy drama and good acting and she's set.

    No one is comparing E's and Y's TALENT. Op is comparing N&W and E&Y similarities and what will happen years later. Naeun was this it girl, known for her looks, selling out whatever she was wearing. Eunji who was the talented one out of two later got popular for her good acting.

    E is miles ahead of her when it comes to singing, but Yujin is not so far from Wonyoung, she's much better than her. Yujin is the only one aside from Liz singing chorus in eleven while Wy's out of breathe with just singing her one tiny line.


    Idk about their popularity, but Eunji is more respected than Naeun. One is a talented singer and okay/good actress while the other is known for her looks that are not there anymore. N's popularity is not the same as it was before, she's known for her bad acting and plastic surgery went wrong.

    Naeun still has jobs here and there, but she's yet to get respect/praise for her acting, and her popularity has definitely declined from what it used to be.


    Eunji is a lot more consistent, and has good dramas, OST work and solo songs and albums. She doesn't face the criticism like Naeun does for plastic surgery accusations and bad acting.

    I agree she has to become a good actress to surpass WY. It's unfortunate how it is now seeing as she's far more talented than WY.

    With a good drama she can topple her. Though Wonyoung right now seems to have people obsessed with her which Naeun didn’t have. For yujin to eclipse Wonyoung , she needs a drama at least dream high level, I’m talking 15% in ratings or a Netflix hit series, she will be bigger. Right now , In SNSD, taeyeon popularity exceeds yoona since 3years ago . So, popularity changes with some solid solo works .

    She’s definitely shown potential for acting.

    I think the main reason Naeun's popularity decreased was because she went overboard with ps so it's not comparable at all

    I think so too that she has potential in acting. I don’t wanna be mean but cmon many kdrama fans know Cha Eun Woo is not the best actor out there and he is able to get the main roles. A major factor that he gets the roles is because of his visuals and the fact that his company Fantagio is also a movie & kdrama production company. It’s why his roles are always getting type cast as the rich cold emotionless male lead.

    Yeah, she has actress visuals and talent, she should be able to get some roles in the future. I hope Starship makes use of it’s connections in the industry

    don’t know if you know but there’s King Kong by Starship which is an actors agency. Bona from WJSN is under it and she got a role in a popular kdrama recently which increased her popularity. Famous actors like Lee Dong Wook and Yoo Yeon Seok are under it too. so Starship definitely has connections to the acting industry. They can try with Yujin some time in the future!
