Something that has confused me for a while. Kpop fans are treating international digitals and popularity the same as Korean digitals and popularity, namely as originating from the general public, whether that's Korean general public or the general public worldwide. But popularity and digitals on platforms as an indicator of success and recognition with the general public only applies to South Korea! In SK you can have the situation that groups that get high digitals and high Gallup rating are wellknown to normal Koreans, to non-kpop fans. But the general public in other countries, they don't know nor care about K-pop groups. When K-pop groups have high numbers on international streaming platforms like Spotify, Youtube etc, that's still just coming from K-pop fans but then worldwide, not the 'public'. And the best evidence for this is boy groups: they have high album sales (fans), yet low interest from the Korean public (weak charting) yet somehow have digitals in platforms as Spotify that equal their high album sales. Of course this is fan driven, and not public driven by the global world population of non-kpop fans!! The only exception is BTS, who are indeed wellknown also to people who don't know one bit about kpop. But that's it. So stop this nonsense of kpop groups with high digitals somehow be known to the international public and not be hard carried by kpop fans. It's delusional.
