What does Kep1er's Chaehyun lack compared to previous Mnet survival centers?

All Produce centers were have huge popularity and public appeal, from Somi to Daniel to Wonyoung to Yohan. Why does it feel like Chaehyun has not reached that kind of potential?

Girl has everything from vocals to visuals. She was known for her soft singing voice and has often been compared to Irene in her visuals. While I disagree she's at that level of visual, she's certainly far from ugly and ticks many boxes for what people look for in a center/visual.

So why is she not at the expected popularity for a Mnet survival center? Especially when this season Mnet was being careful and clearly did not do any rigging, so this is a real popularity ranking right?

Produce X did arguably worse than GP999, didn't even get to promote. And yet Yohan got a lead role in a KBS drama straight away, and he still guests on tons of shows and is hugely popular. Chaehyun has nowhere near that hype.

The centers for gg produce were chosen mostly for their visuals and unfortunately her visuals are not on par with the previous produce centers. Imo she looks plain and doesn’t have that much of a star quality and presence like Somi and Wonyoung.

She only got center position because her company was appointed to manage kepler before the show even started. They didn't want bahiyiih to be the center so they rigged the final votes. She isn't even center material. Only xiaoting in kepler is center material.

Was there any proof of the rigging? I can't imagine Mnet doing dirty business again with all the eyes watching after their Produce controversy.

But she was often complimented on her visuals, some say it's got the typical SM features and others compared her to Irene.

She doesn't give center vibe.

never gave me true center vibes tbh, not because she’s not talented because she definitely is, but centers usually embody a group’s concept, and while kep1er does have the bright energy that chaehyun has, they seemed to have gone for a sassier approach in their debut which i think dayeon, xiaoting, and even hikaru suit more than chaehyun. however, i still think she could have good gp popularity after kep1er, because she has stellar vocals and a cute vibe as well as being a great performer.

personally, her visuals weren't to my taste. I found her head shape sort of weird and her looks plain. I honestly didn't know what knetz saw in her and actively hoped she wouldn't make it to the debut group. Mnet is good at styling though, so it helped her some after debut, but overall I don't think she comes anywhere close to Somi or Wonyoung when it comes to visuals. Even comparing her to other I.O.I or Iz*One members, she isn't that amazing.

Yeah, she has stronger vocals, but only a loud minority still pretends like vocals matter more than visuals or charm.

But can't put all the blame on her. The whole pool of candidates was a lot less interesting than in Produce 101 or Produce 48, so it makes sense their center would be less interesting too.

She's pretty but she lacks charisma. A center doesn't need to be the prettiest or have amazing vocals to be center. I find Hikaru more center material than her tbh.

She is boring, she doesn't live up to the overflowing charisma of Somi or the cuteness of Wonyoung. If the others two were a energizer and a juice, Chaehyun is plain water

The group as a whole is boring, I never stanned either izone or ioi but I always looked forward to their content. This group has nothing appealing, center is boring as well as that "rapper/dancer" girl they push alot . Only Chinese girl, hikaru and even bahhiyi who gets the most hate catch my attention when I watch their content.

They should've given more screentime to Chinese trainees, I liked them.

That she's unfortunately forgettable when onstage. Putting her next to Xiaoting, Hikaru, Youngeun or even Dayeon... she just fades into the background. Add to that Youngeun being able to sing almost as well as her, can outdance and outrap her and it's clear that she was placed as center while ignoring international voters.

The fancam views show that most popular members are Hikaru, Bahiyyih, and Xiaoting. They are the clear top 3 based on popularity. And we all know that one of those three should have been center.

Personally, she isn't a good center, she's not expressive or charismatic on stage, it doesn't help Kep1er is dance heavy and she's the worst dancer in the group.

Her soft voice is good but she's not power vocalist, i tend to not like her voice when she stretch it (that high note in Girls is unlistenable to me).

I think she's a good main vocal and has nice visuals but she doesn't have what it takes to be the center of the group and even when she gets lots of center, she tend to get overshadowed.

She's overshadowed by Xiaoting
