Why didn’t Darling Seventeen become a hit like Twice The Feels?

  • The Feels even chart on Billboard even when Twice has the smaller fandom. Why didn’t Darling do better? Which song do you like more?

    Approved the thread.
  • twice must have a bigger western fanbase like has svt toured arenas ?

  • Darling was not even liked much by the fans so who's gonna hype it

  • I'm not an anti but I find svt's songs really boring. Darling was boring asf. But this new song is really cool I'm obsessed with it they should stick with with it.

  • because svt's popularity is in Asia only

they are very succesful in Japan, but they are nugu's in the west (compared to twice, bts, bp,..)

they have very high album sales & chart well on oricon etc, but their global spotify and yt are not comparable with groups who do have succes in the west & unless a song of them goes viral on tiktok, they never will have a western hit.

  • From what I understand is.

A, Twice have more fans outside of EA, specifically in western countries.

B, Twice have more casual listeners.

C, Once loved The Feels and massively supported it. I don't think Carets(?) liked Darling in the same way.

  • Cause seventeen has virtually no causal fanbase that listens to their music

Everyone anticipates the next twice release, to adore it or criticize it, just to listen to it. But outside of their fanbase nobody’s eagerly waiting for the next seventeen release

  • I forgot Darling existed

  • Majority of Seventeen's popularity is in Asia, specifically Eastern Asia. That's why they have such high physicals and chart well in countries like Japan but make little noise in western ifan spaces.

Also doesn't help that most carats either hated darling or were indifferent, very few actually liked it. When you look at Seventeen's digital performance, it's highly dependent on whether or not the fans actually like the song. RTL = fans didn't like = dropped out of charts. RWY = fans loved = performed very well by current bg standards. HOT = fans divided = digital performance is not very good as not all are supporting it.

I think even their other English song would have done better if given the same promotion, or just any other bside off the recent album changed to English. No matter what, it would not have been successful as The Feels though because they just don't have the same popularity.

  • Darling was saccharine. So was The Feels but in a campy-pop energetic way.

Also I thought about half of Darling was in Korean. Like another HYBE group, English pronunciation is not a strong suit. But they'll never be able to move away from these sickly sweet concepts. Their fans got mad about Fear (or Hit? A more mature vibe song) so they had to release Snapshoot to pacify them.
