Was TVXQ the first global Kpop group?

well I guess so - they are the firts group that made a huge impact in japan. And I know some kpop fans in my country that became their fans back in '07 and '05 - obviously kpop during those time was a niche genre in the west, but the surely made an impact in the kpop scene
