I. Introduction:
Iwata Takanori (岩田剛典) is a Japanese performer, actor, singer and business man. He is a member of Sandaime J SOUL BROTHERS from EXILE TRIBE and EXILE. He was also a member of Sandaime's special unit THE Sharehappi from Sandaime J Soul Brothers from EXILE TRIBE.
Iwata made his debut as a soloist on September 15, 2021 with the single "korekara".
Besides his activities in the entertainment industry, he is the creative director of the luxury shoe brand NERD MIND.
In 2010, he made his debut in "Best Friend's Girl" by J SOUL BROTHERS III from EXILE TRIBE.
In 2013, he began his acting career in the stage play "Attack No.1".
On April 27, 2014, he was selected as a new EXILE performer at the "EXILE PERFORMER BATTLE AUDITION" FINAL held at Nippon Budokan. He is currently active as both a member of EXILE and J SOUL BROTHERS III. In the same year, he appeared in the Fuji TV drama "Dear Sister" in October.
In April 2015, he appeared in the NTV drama "Wild Heroes", and in October of the same year, he appeared in the NTV drama "HiGH&LOW THE STORY OF S.W.O.R.D.".
His first lead role in the film "Shokubutsu Zukan" released in June 2016 won him the Newcomer Award at the 41st Hochi Film Awards. He also won the Newcomer of the Year Actor/Topic Award at the 40th Japan Academy Film Prize and the Newcomer of the Year Actor Award at the 26th Japan Movie Critics Awards, proving his success as an artist.
In 2017, he appeared in the film "HiGH&LOW THE MOVIE 2 END OF SKY" released in July and the film "HiGH&LOW THE MOVIE 3 FINAL MISSION" released in November.
In 2018, his first solo starring film "Last Winter, We Parted", co-starring film "Perfect World: A Miracle with You" and the film "Vision" were released. His achievements this year were recognized and he won the Ishihara Yujiro Newcomer Award at the 31st Nikkan Sports Film Awards/Ishihara Yujiro Awards. In the same year, he starred in the April NTV drama "Hotel on the Edge!".
Since January 2019, he has been working as an ambassador for LOUIS VUITTON. It was used as an advertising visual for the "LOUIS VUITTON -Men's- 2019 Fall/Winter Collection" and was advertised in London, Milan, Beijing, Tokyo and around the world.
In June of the same year, the movie "Machida-kun no Sekai" was released, and in October of the same year, he appeared in the Fuji TV drama "Sherlock" which aired on Monday nights. In January 2020, he appeared in the movie "AI Kaihatsu" and in December of the same year, he appeared in the movie "Shin Kaihatsu Sangokushi". In the same year, he is challenging himself with the first celebrity serialization project from the July issue of "ELLE JAPON".
In January 2021, he appeared in the lead role in the movie "Namonaiki Sekai no Endoru".
In the same year, he appeared in the TBS drama "Promise Cinderella" which aired on Tuesdays at 10pm in July.
In March 2022, the movie "Wedding High" and in May, "Death Penalty Disease" were released.
In June, "The Hound of the Baskervilles: Sherlock Movie Version" was released.
With his first album "The Chocolate Box" scheduled to be released on Wednesday, October 12th of the same year, he will hold his first solo live tour "Takanori Iwata LIVE TOUR 2022 "THE CHOCOLATE BOX"" from November.
In April 2023, he will appear on Fuji TV's "Even if you don't do it for me".
He is scheduled to appear in the NHK morning drama "Wings on a Tiger" in the first half of 2024.
He is active in various fields, including acting and appearing in commercials, mainly as a performer for EXILE and J SOUL BROTHERS III.
