The Summer Talk

I. Introduction

The Summer Talk is a YouTube reality variety series that follows the members of WayV, a NCT sub-unit, as they play and eat in a country vacation rental.

II. Overview

NCT is unique among K-Pop groups due to the fact that the concept of NCT is an ever expanding group with "unlimited" members and is comprised of several individual subunits, including WayV.

The Summer Talk follows the members of the sub-unit WayV over several days in a country house where the members relax, play games and enjoy meals together. This program serves as a contrast to competition and activity-based shows like NCT Life or WayVision or highly scripted formats like The NCT Show segments. This series was also similar in premise and style to 7Illin' in the Dream featuring NCT Dream and NCT 127's Stick Together and Fill It Up. Five of the members of WayV appear in the show: Kun, Ten, Xiaojun, Hendery and YangYang. Lucas was on hiatus and Winwin was on location shooting a movie in China.

Prior to the series, Ten had spent 15 months working in China separate from the other members with delays from the ongoing COVID pandemic and subsequent shutdowns. He had reunited with the members in June 2022.

The show aired ahead of and after WayV's first live performance in over 15 months with the group reuniting as five at the SMTOWN Live concerts.
