Taeyong x Wonstein - Love Theory (SM Station Season 2022)

I. Introduction

Love Theory is a digital single from Korean rappers and songwriters Taeyong of the boy group NCT and Wonstein. It was released on April 14, 2022 as part of SM Station Season 2022. It was the second single of the season.

II. Background & Release

SM Station is a digital music project under SM Entertainment that involves solos or duets from members in existing SM groups, as well as opportunities for singers to experiment in other genres or collaborate with artists inside and outside of SM Entertainment. The project releases a number of singles digitally each year on digital platforms, including streaming audio like Spotify.

Taeyong is the leader of NCT 127 and one of its main rappers. He is also a songwriter for many NCT songs, notably the rap lyrics, as well as his own works released on SoundCloud. Wonstein is a k-hip hop rapper, who gained greater attention after his appearance on Show Me the Money.

The song was referenced as part of the SM Station NCT Lab series in its original promos, however, the final song is not labeled as part of NCT Lab and only as SM Station, possibly because it's a collaboration.

Although Taeyong wrote lyrics for multiple NCT songs, he is known primarily as a rapper, dancer and leader. He co-wrote this song with Wonstein and producer Zayson, while also showcasing his vocals. This was his third SM Station song and his first release since 2019's "Long Flight." With this release, he became the NCT member with the most number of Station songs (three collaborations and one solo).

The song debuted at #10 on the worldwide iTunes chart and reached the top of the charts in 7 regions and charted in 11 others.
