  • I. I.Introduction

    "INVU" is Taeyeon's third studio album. It was released on February 14, 2022 with "INVU" serving as the title track.


    Prior to the album's release, "Can't Control Myself" was released as a pre-release single on January 17. The album also includes the song "Weekend", which was also released as a single on July 6, 2021.


    II. Background

    Reports about the release of her pre-release single "Can't Control Myself" and her third full length album "INVU" (the title of the album however was not revealed at the time) on January 11, 2022.


    After releasing "Can't Control Myself" on January 17, she later teased her album on January 26. The title was revealed to be "INVU" through a teaser image. She later released more video and image teasers. She also announced that she would hold an exhibition for "INVU" on February 7 to 14 at the Gallery Cafe Punto Blu in Seongsudong, Seoul, which had four different spaces for fans to see the concepts of Taeyeon's album.


    Prior to the release of "INVU", Taeyeon also held a countdown live on the Girls' Generation YouTube channel on February 14 5pm KST where she shared spoilers, which included an album introduction, unboxing, and behind-the-scenes stories.


    "INVU" officially came out on February 14 alongside an MV for the title track of the same name.

    "INVU" debuted at #1 on the worldwide iTunes album chart and the European iTunes album charts, which makes it the first album of Taeyeon's chart at #1 in both charts.


    It also placed #1 in the iTunes charts in 21 countries including Australia, Canada, Chile, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and more. It also reaches #5 on the U.S. iTunes chart. The title track "INVU" placed #24 on the worldwide iTunes song chart.


    "INVU" also as of date has the highest first week sales of all of Taeyeon's albums with over 135,000 copies sold on Hanteo. This surpasses "Purpose"s record at 132,000.


    "INVU" the title track also received an all-kill on February 26, 2022 on all the major streaming platforms which include MelOn, Genie, FLO, VIBE, and Bugs. It was also #1 on the realtime and weekly iChart. "INVU" is the first relase of 2022 to score a PAK on the iChart and the first song since Skodomo's "Merry-Go-Round" (feat. Zion.T, Wonstein) (Prod. Slom) from November 2021 to score a PAK.
