KEY

I. Introduction

KEY (키) is the lead rapper, lead dancer, and sub vocalist of SHINee. He was recruited into SM Entertaintment through the 2005 S.M. National Tour Audion Casting. KEY first appeared as a backup dancer in 'Wonder Boy' for the Super Junior film, 'Attack on the Pin-Up Boys' in 2007. He later debuted with SHINee in May 25th, 2008 on SBS' Inkigayo with their single 'Replay'. He has continued to make music with SHINee since.

II. Career

In terms of activities outside of SHINee, his first music activities were some features for other artists. He featured on ;TRAX's track, 'Healing'; Girls' Generation's 'Boys & Girls'; and Jessica's 'Barbie Girl'. He later formed the duo-unit, 'Toheart', with Infinite's Woohyun, and debuted with their mini-album, 'Delicious', in 2014.

He made his musical debut in the Korean production of 'Catch Me if You Can', and has continued to star in musicals since then. He also made his acting debut in 2016 in the drama, 'Drinking Solo'.

He made his solo-artist debut on November 6th with his single, 'Forever Yours'. His first album, 'Face', came in a couple of weeks after.

His official fandom name is 'Lockets' and his fandom color is pink. 'Lockets' is obviously a play on his stage name. Meaning that Key and his fans complete each other like a literal key to a locket. However, nowadays, his fans are also referred to as 'Lil Freaks' since that's what Key himself calls them. A fan who was attending a ToHeart fansign said that Key explained that the “lil” is similar to "how a son will always be little to his dad". Which shows the affection Key has for his fans.
