I. Introduction
SuperM: The Beginning follows members of the k-pop supergroup, SuperM, during their debut, including press conferences, promotions and their first concert.
II. Overview
SuperM is a k-pop supergroup consisting of seven members from top SM Entertainment boy groups: Taemin from SHINee, Baekhyun and Kai from EXO, Taeyong and Mark from NCT 127, and Ten and Lucas from WayV, a NCT sub-unit. They debuted on October 4, 2019 with their self titled EP and debut single "Jopping". Described as "the Avengers of K-Pop", the group is focused on performance-based music with each of the members excelling at performance, vocal, and rap abilities.
The series, narrated by SM labelmate and creative director BoA, offers a glimpse as SuperM makes its debut in the United States.
It follows the members as they prep for their debut, get to know each other better and go on promotions in Los Angeles, while staying together in a rental house. It also includes performances from their debut showcase at Capitol Records.
SuperM: The Beginning aired on SBS on two consecutive Fridays on Oct. 25 and Nov. 1, 2019.

IV. Trivia
- In their respective groups, Taemin is the maknae and Kai is a member of the maknae line. In SuperM, they are part of the hyung line. Within their respective groups, Taeyong and Ten are in the hyung line, while in SuperM, they are among the younger members.
- Baekhyun is the oldest member. Mark is the maknae, just as he is in NCT 127.
- Taemin and Kai are best friends.
- Baekhyun is known for being a rambunctious "beagle," which is part of the amusement in selecting him as the leader.
- At this point, Ten and Lucas live in the same dorm. None of the others do within their groups.
- 5 of the 7 members are main dancers in their respective groups (Taemin, Kai, Taeyong, Ten and Mark).
- Baekhyun and Ten are main vocalists in their respective groups.
- Taemin, Kai, Taeyong and Lucas are centers in their respective groups.
- Taeyong and Mark are main rappers in their respective group.
- Taeyong is the only member who is a leader in his respective group.
Episode 1:
- Taeyong's love of pools is an ongoing theme in NCT content.
- Members always being on a diet is a recurring joke and theme across SuperM content.
- Members are studying English. There are 2 fluent English speakers in SuperM: Mark (a native speaker) and Ten. All of them will be more fluent by the full album release the next year.
- Fans are cheering when Baekhyun speaks English because he does not usually speak it. In the show, he can be seen talking with Kai about practicing their English. SuperM would incorporate more English in later promotions.
- Ten does not eat beef, which appears frequently across SuperM, NCT and WayV content.
- Ten is an excellent artist, whose work appears on WayV merchandise. His talent often appears in NCT and WayV content.
- Members talk about wanting their own reality series. They get one the following year with Mtopia.
