Yg adopted the hiatus strategy for bp to build enthusiasm and hype for each release. But with born pink, we are seeing the limits of such a model. Not only is bp no where near bts numbers, but their sales in the US have been surpassed by other groups like twice and skz. And they have been easily surpassed in korea by 4th gen ggs.
So is the strategy worth it? Or would we see even worse numbers without it?

Yg really spent a lot of money on this comeback with little return on investment to speak of . But at least you got to admire the dedication.
As for the op, blinks always lie and spread misinfo and when they are corrected they cry like babies and call those who actually done their homework nerds and obsessed.
They seem to think ignorance and parroting misnfo without research is cool? very anti-data crowd. Reminds me of some people irl.

You people really went from celebrating YG is bankrupt and back to YG is paying youtube, spotify, influencer, twitter, model, UN, every pavement on US to mediaplay BP like wow... Do you people even read what you wrote.. I can't believe 4 girls can get tens of thousand of people mad and people wonder why kpop fans are called deranged kids by literally everyone around the world..?
No one will ever dare claim that yg paid off youtube that’s just silly. And i didn’t in my OP either. They are one of the few honest players on that plateform.
As for spotify there is literally empirical evidence that was shared multiple times on this site. And the mediaplay stuff and social accounts have been exposed as well.

I understand yg/bp desperation here. They thought people’s attention will gravitate naturally toward bp after bts’s hiatus and they overestimated the demand in the west by a lot.
But still with the mvs being expensive ,all the album discounts, the spotify deal that must have cost a lot, the paying off twitter and insta accounts and buying articles to mediaplay, one has to wonder.. are the girls making ANY money atp from this comeback??
I am actually quite grateful that the pinks have all sorts of things going besides their music to compensate.
Hopefully they will soon sell out the arenas.

It was hell for Mys for months because of blinks. Oh how the mighty have fallen.

The industry isn’t threatened by bp or kpop so it is to be expected.
It was funny to see though how after months of blinks dragging 4th gen ggs for 10+versions and digipacks , bp and yg has to resort to the same shady practices to get what’s essentially more or less 4th sales results. Even discounting the digipack fto 3.99 dollars barely above the minimum 3.49 $ allowed for bb.
And this also after 2 years of hiatus.
Yg went all out on this one spending a lot on spotify and discounts only to get mediocre results. Thank god the girls got fashion deals.
