That apart, there is a 15 year old act, who never seems to fail with casuals, always brings them in - IU, that is something impressive. But she can't compete with the fandoms of top groups, when it comes to physicals.

Yeah, Twices concept starting off with cute concept really puts them at disadvantage as this is the least resilient concept to change as a group ages.

BP's concept doesn't get affected the same way cute concepts do. Their appeal western and international audience is also a major factor for the resilience.

New and trending groups will usually have both casual fans and hardcore. Fan retention matters litter in new groups as long as interest exceeds their room retention rate. Retaining fans is much harder than piqueing casual interest.

How many older group have both casual and hardcore fans is the question here.

Groups with little hardcore fans but high casual interest is the category not brought up yet. The dynamic of this type of group will have weak album and concerts but spike in interest each comeback but no longevity.

Twices situation is the better of the two.

Of course we're speaking in extremes. It's not like Twice isn't acquiring casual fans at all, just not at a rate that will spike digitals.

It is almost like a BG dynamic.

I think what makes Twice behave like boy group is because of how loveable they are as a group. They are able to hold on to fans better than any other group. Do note that I'm talking about the actual fans, not casual fans.

Lets think about what really differentiate boy group fans vs girl group fans? Usually its their dedication to a group. Boy group fans are really hardcore but less so from the public. That's explains for why boy groups do so well in albums and tours without the digital.

Now let's think about nature of most girl group stans. They're usually not that dedicated to a group and will usually move on once a group ages (that's also why need gg seem to have a easier time than new bg)

Casual fans will always leave with time, that's undeniable. The reason you don't see much gg make it to bg status is because by the time they lose majority of their casual fans, the actual fans also left due to the nature of gg stans.

Twice is unique in the case that as their casual fans fade (hence the drop in digital) their hardcore fans remained. Long term hardcore fans also naturally means older fans which also means people with more money. More money means more capable of buying albums and going to concerts, even if it means having to fly to another state or country to do so, hence the reason for their album sale and touring but no digit. Twice don't have much casual fans left but their hardcore fanbase remains huge.
