As far as I recall there wasn’t much of an age difference between 2nd gen and 3rd gen idols. Shinee, BTS, Exo, and seventeen have somewhat similar ages.

K-pop fans are weird. They either want groups to throw punches, or completely be in love. there is no in between.
You should have seen the meltdown on twitter, when Exo said that they have no celebrity friends. According to twitter EXO are villains. That's why the industry hates them. lmao

Better to stick with your team, rather than be besties with other idols/celebrities who are competing against you. Plus the issue of ego’s and other things fans don’t know of.
If K-pop fans have that competitive mentality, it’s obvious the industry will have it as well.

I did think that Exo’s sales would be higher than 1.6 million due to the sales boom. But it was a realistic expectation to expect 1.5 million, when we look at the trajectory of their previous comebacks. Steady growth.
After first week sales announcement I have been observing their sales. There doesn’t seem to be any growth whatsoever. I don’t think it’s helpful to be a conspiracy theorist, but they should easily reach 1.6 million at the 8th or 9th day. It’s day 10 or 11 now.
