OSTs are very different from solo releases. OSTs all depend on how popular the drama/webtoon is and Wheein's OST is for a very popular webtoon.

How did her actual comeback do on the charts?

There is actually a song from that show performed by Melomance and a member of Davichi. Both digital monsters. Both surpassed by Wheein.

Her comeback didn't do THAT well, but still charted despite being totally rushed by her new company. This will definitely give her more exposure

She's been always referred as one of the least popular members from 3rd gen, yet:

    - Her OST song is killing it on the charts

    - 2nd Highest charting OST right now. Surpassing Melomance (for now), Davichi, Jihyo, Bibi, Seventeen and a bunch of other artists that released OST songs recently

    - She's all over variety shows

    - Not Big4

She managed to do all that with shitty promotions and after leaving her former company. A queen indeed.

Truly, what is the purpose of this show other than being rigged in favor of mnet's new flop group?

    - Both Hyolyn and Eunji are waaaaaay above everyone else. They are legends

    - All performances will be lipsynced, as usual. Except for Hyorin ofc

    - Loona and WJSN members tested positive for covid

    My predictions:

    - Mnet will milk from the Gfriend failure storyline

    - Milk from the Brave girl's 5 minutes of fame

    - rob Hyorin from winning the show

    - WJSN will be edited as the villains of the season

    For me, it's Hwasa:

    - Huge in SK

    - Popular internationally

    - Hits in SK and Maria was also quite big internationally

    - One of the biggest Trendsetters from past gen

    - Maria's sample was everywhere after her comeback in 2020

Insane how she even surpassed Melomance and Davichi's releases for the same Webtoon show

Get ready bc she's coming :pepelove1:

Also, props to Stayc for doing what had to be done

They really are making me feel the Apink-Miss A- Carly Rae Jepsen fantasy :pepe-sad:

    I'm very confused.

Since my trainee days as a nugu kpop fan I noticed there has been ALWAYS a pattern in the industry: kpop songs are mostly 2 or 3 songs mashed up in order to make ALL the members perform (unlike american acts that are known for having filler members that never sing).

Sure, sometimes it stands out more but at the end of the day it's the same essence. Pretty much always the pre-chorus or bridge or dance break pops up with a weird-experimental beat:

But hey! Those are recent songs, but It isn't something particularly new. It has been A THING for years now:

But what's the big difference now? Why everything sound so chaotic that people call it revolutionary?

Well, it's simple: that old formula had way smoother and complex transitions. Now composers only take a bunch of weird beats and put them together with a talked rap to fill empty spaces.

No hate on Aespa though. I think their composers are doing a great work. As for Nmix and the new horde of "girl crush newbies" (IVE, Loona, Keepier and currently Itzy too), they are just copying what the flop IOI groups tried to do in the past: mixing a bunch of messy, bland and uninspired sounds and call it a day:
