A compilation is a collection of previously released songs.

An anthology is a bit different, where it can include unreleased tracks, demos, remixes etc.

They can really add anything in any format but it usually follows a theme. It is a curated collection.

It could include anything the artists deems significant, not necessarily all the song they’ve ever released or exclusively title tracks.
