I think it's good that BTS didn't win a Grammy with Butter or any English songs

  • I don't mean it as a shade. I just genuinely think they have better songs. I'd rather them winning with a more deserving song, something not too genetic and more experimental like Black Swan.

Now before y'all say "Grammy doesn't care about the quality of songs", yeah I know that but I still hope their better Korean songs get more recognitions than the English ones. It would be a more meaningful win too. It may or may not happen but I don't mind hoping and waiting. As long as they still make music, anything is possible.

    Approved the thread.
  • this is actually an interesting take.

  • At this point I don't think they are getting a Grammy, no matter what song they release.

  • You’re asking too much of the American public. We really don’t mess with foreign language music.

I just hope their next English song is better than Butter/Dynamite

People said the same about foreign films back then because they're too lazy to read subtitles. But look what happens now with all those Korean shows winning awards left and right?

I know I'm asking for too much but I just have had enough with BTS making English songs to appeal to America. If they do win with an English song, I would still feel happy for them (since it's their dream) but I wouldn't feel too fulfilled myself, as if something is missing.

And yeah I also hope the next English song would be a different genre from Dynamite/Butter/PTD.

  • I thought the same thing when I got up this morning and saw they didn't win.

On one hand, I would've been really happy for them and definitely wanted them to win, but on the other hand, I'd honestly rather see them win with a Korean song. The English songs since Dynamite felt forced somehow.

  • Hopefully they'll announce their next album art the concert.

And yeah, I want sims like Shadow. But Butter is really good, you know? Don't shade it please?

  • No offence they will never nominate and pick Korean songs over English songs. Their chance at winning is only there because of their English songs

  • I like BTS a lot but same. I wish their English songs were in the same vein as their Korean songs no matter how popular Dynamite or Butter are.

  • i do agree with op actually and i'm not even an army.

winning for butter or dynamite would have been an absolute joke when they have songs like black swan, microkosmos or paradise... heck even ON and life goes on deserve a grammy more than those blatant unmemorable songs that even sound the same... i get they're trying to appeal to the American public but it's embarrassing for a song about diary to be more successful than projects like love yourself or mots7 :pepe-back-away:

Do you even know that songs you mentioned deserve Grammy were sent up for submissions but were not nominated? Appeal to American ass when it’s Grammy not nominated their Korean albums and songs. They have been submitting since Love yourself series.

i don't get the point of your reply. yes, i know they were submitted, yes i know they weren't nominated, yes i know they've been submitting since love yourself.

that doesn't mean they aren't trying to appeal to the American public with those ass english songs. they know those types of "fun upbeat songs" are liked by the gp but that doesn't mean they deserve to win. if they had made something like the mentioned earlier songs but in English, i'm sure they would have won by now but they chose to do nonsense lyrics with plain beats :annoyedk: if they stop trying too hard and go back to their older stuff, they'd have a chance. as i said it's embarrassing to win with butter smooth like criminal under cover when they have a lyrical and musical masterpiece like black swan in their discography

you are embarrassing with your half baked opinions about why BTS released those songs

  • They are being horribly advised. It's almost offensive that HYBE think westerners are impressed by these current BTS songs. They don't seem able to understand that their fanbase will support anything, it doesn't mean it's good.

I hope this was their last Grammy's campaign. It would be nice to hear good music from them again.

  • Win or not win I think they will continue to release songs like Dynamite and Butter since those are the ones that seem to work with the U.S. audiences.

But I agree with OP, no matter how popular, neither song deserved a Grammy, although I know their win carries more meaning for what it represents for the group and their fans than for the song that gets awarded.

  • you are embarrassing with your half baked opinions about why BTS released those songs

ok then help me fully bake my opinion. why is bts releasing them same-sounding cringe english songs if not to appeal to the western market? why aren't they releasing their usual stuff? the music they got so popular with in the first place?

  • You must not be American OP, if you think a Korean song will win a grammy. Anyway grammys sub people all the time aka the Weeknd last year so it happens. Dyna and Butter whether yall like it or not put them at the top and was being played everywhere.

when did they stop releasing the music they always did? Be exists after dynamite. 3 english songs hides the entire 300+ songs? dumbo

  • After you tell the Grammy to start considering Korean tracks then. BTS already sent in their Korean works, they were never nominated. If you want BTS to get a Grammy with a Korean song then please join the academy and change things yourself.
