what was the criteria for KMA nominations? My faves were not even nominated in any

    Approved the thread.
  • it's 100% decided by music critics, it's kinda like the grammy in korea

  • I doubt there's a criteria

they just seem to be some generic/digestible songs anyone can claim is good, not a sales or a quality thing (another reason can't be about musical worth because after school by weeekly was literally accused of being plagiarised)

salty kpop fan alert ^^ and it's the opposite, KMA typically highlights a lot of songs that aren't necessarily considered commercially celebrated/gp friendly

not because I'm salty, it's just that the KMAs intentions are obvious, have been since they created a different category for idols

and not a single kpop song they nominated fits what you say

  • KMA is onion of a panel. Nothing commercial, just some guys opinions. People call it the 'grammys' but this is just a label a certain fandom gave it a few years back to make it seem like it's a big thing.

  • Stayc with lesser hits? Unless you are stanning aespa, oh my girl i don't think you should say lesser hit as ASAP did better than majority kpop ggroup songs. Also you stating your group sells more than txt is a giveaway that you are a boy group stan. Boy groups got no hits in the first place

  • The KPOP categories are brand new and kind of weird IMO. It's supposed to be about critical acclaim so I guess the judges arbitrarily decide nominations

Any idea why Butter would be nominated in kpop instead of pop? Is it because BTS are kpop?

they highlighted several kpop songs/albums that weren't as commercially successful as a lot of other kpop groups (boa, weeekly, etc), don't see what's your point

the KMAs have never liked kpop that much as a genre, similar to how grammys have snubbed teeny bop (1d, early justin beiber never got noms)

they've nominated kpop groups like fx in the past that clearly appreciated the musical value

  • KMA is sort of like Oscar and Grammy's, and you'll see the same mix of commercial with non-commercial nominations.

The jury consists of all kinda people related to the music industry. You'll see a lot more other kinds of artists and songs be nominated than you'll find with the regular kpop award shows.

Because of that it has always had more prestige.

  • ah i was wondering why em see tee weren't there

turns out it's based on critical acclaim lol

This is where bad music takes you

that's your personal opinion and that's also being salty.

dismissing it because your faves weren't nominated?

  • What I heard from armies was that this was a very prestigious award in which very serious music critics with objective taste would select the absolute best songs of the year, not regarding popularity.

You mean 2nd gen fans right? Because it has been called that in the intl fandom for ages
