honestly I think that might be a long term gamble
seeing that covid still kills but infection rate is inversely proportional to virulence (<< damage done to host) so the better it gets at spreading, the less deadly it could get

At some point we need to start treating covid like the flu but first we need more and better medication so it stops the hospitalizations and deaths.
