Sure, finding facial symmetry attractive (and also stuff like looking healthy and having good hygiene) are more or less programmed into us but 1. It's not that easy telling who has the best facial symmetry just from looking at a photo so I don't see much point in paying attention to it, and 2. It's not everything. Personal preference do play a part in it. According to math Amber Heard supposedly has the best face in Hollywood and I don't know about you but I can come up with multiple celebrities I find more beautiful.
You do it subconciously and the most handsome/beautiful faces turn out to be the closest to golden ratio, not the other way around. Sure, it's not everything, harmony, i.e. how well facial features go together, plays a big part too among other things like I said. This guy's face is kinda weird and I'm sure more people would vote for him if they saw more photos.
