[Round 1] Visual Battle Boy Groups: Infinite

  • Sure, finding facial symmetry attractive (and also stuff like looking healthy and having good hygiene) are more or less programmed into us but 1. It's not that easy telling who has the best facial symmetry just from looking at a photo so I don't see much point in paying attention to it, and 2. It's not everything. Personal preference do play a part in it. According to math Amber Heard supposedly has the best face in Hollywood and I don't know about you but I can come up with multiple celebrities I find more beautiful.

You do it subconciously and the most handsome/beautiful faces turn out to be the closest to golden ratio, not the other way around. Sure, it's not everything, harmony, i.e. how well facial features go together, plays a big part too among other things like I said. This guy's face is kinda weird and I'm sure more people would vote for him if they saw more photos.

But my point is people did vote for him. And they might vote for others you don't think fit the standard. We haven't applied the golden ratio to everyone and someone might fit it better than expected.

It's not like we measure symmetry and decide "yeah, they're beautiful". There's a reason why some are considered attractive by the majority and some are an acquired taste.

Yeah, they did vote for him as the least attractive member and now the poll makes more sense. :whatr:

That's my point. You don't make a conscious decision "this person is more attractive because they fit the golden ratio". So focusing on that and bringing up "objective" attractiveness makes no sense.

Don't vote for your top visual and don't overthink it.

Saying that someone should have more votes because you don't think their face symmetrical enough, implying they can't be considered attractive, is dumb and rude. I'm sorry if I sound harsh.

You misunderstood me from the beginning saying "it's not that easy telling who has the best facial symmetry just from looking at a photo" when it was never my point. Maybe I'm bad at explaining but I was trying to say there are universal things all humans find beautiful due to evolution and symmetry, good proportions turn out to be some of these things, you took it the opposite way for some reason. I even used the word "subconciously" several times. You're confusing the cause and the effect here. My taste is pretty standard and since I don't find him attractive, most people won't and he must not have the best ratio, not "I measured his symmetry, it's bad and that's why he's not handsome".

I feel like we're talking past each other haha.

My point is that even if there is an objective standard all humans agree with you can't be sure who fits it and who doesn't just based on who you find attractive. How are you sure your preference is standard, especially on an international forum. How can you be sure Dongwoo is the least "objectively" attractive member? If you haven't actually measured their faces you can't be. You, finding him unconventional is not a good point of reference.

Because everyone I like is considered beautiful by most people. I haven't ever found someone handsome who is widely regarded average or ugly. Obviously I haven't measured his face but I gave you the scientific explanation of why I don't find him attractive, even if it's my subconscious at work.

Welp I guess we will see as the competition goes on if your subconscious is right. ^^

Just don't write comment complaining about idols not having enough votes. Don't want that type of negativity here. :cursing: :cursing:
