What to do when my faves keep releasing songs i don't like lately? help

  • i've been a fan of this group for more than 4 years already and i really love their old work but lately their songs are not my taste and i feel like on the verge of unstanning because i am annoyed at the concept and music direction but i'm so emotionally attached to them that i can't, i really love the members, what should i do? maybe i should take a hiatus? i'm really unhappy with the situation...

  • well if it's really more than 4 years, I'd search for other groups

  • nvm I read it wrong, but I still would search for other groups in the meantime and go back to them when they release something you like

  • One thing I've learnt after 12 years into kpop is that it's okay to let groups go when you feel like you've disconnected from them.

  • i don't think you need to unstan them, but i believe you're finally realizing you'll not enjoy everything they put out maybe? just skip the songs you don't like and listen to other artists in the meantime (either kpop or western music)

  • Their old songs are still right there and you can still enjoy them all you want in the meantime. But If they keep releasing songs that you don't like to the point you can't tolerate it anymore, then you should move on and explore other options until you find other artists whose music satisfies you. Fandom loyalty is an overrated creepy concept, you should prioritise your personal enjoyment. Forcing yourself to stan a group whose music you no longer care for out of a misguided sense of loyalty will make you miserable and beat the purpose of entertainment which should come with music.

  • 4 years? Time to face the truth, you don't like then for their music. You're either into them purely because of them as people/idols or you're in denial about them being your "faves"

  • Cope by writing smutty fan fics.

  • i am on a very slightly similar spot I would just wait until they release something I like or else just stop following them ?! because this group's songs had a dramastic not well managed change on their songs and concepts so it feels like a different group to me

the better answer for this question is more like taking your time and see if they release something you enjoy in the near future

  • i ditched exo and became a casual listener. 4th gen bg making better bops

the thing is i don't feel disconnected from the members themselves, i still pretty much really love them, the thing is i think the music they released lately are either boring or just suck

i stan them more than 4 years already and i love their songs released on the first 5 years of their career., but lately their songs are fuckin bland i want to cry

  • I understand, it must be hard to give a group you love. But sometimes it's for the better. If you consistently dislike their own music, it's time to explore some other groups' output. Maybe then you can find an artist/group who you regularly enjoy.

you can stan them and not like the music babe. being a fan is not only about liking music. maybe support their other gigs instead?
