BTS Drops Sony for Universal
K-Pop juggernaut agrees to a distribution and marketing deal for the U.S. and other regions

SEOUL—The world’s biggest boy band is joining forces with the world’s largest music company.
South Korea’s BTS has agreed to a distribution and marketing deal with Universal Music Group UMG +1.52% N.V. for the U.S. and other regions, parting ways with Sony SONY -0.17% Music’s Columbia Records, according to HYBE Co. 352820 -1.66% , which manages the seven-member group.
Financial terms weren’t disclosed. Neither Universal nor Columbia Records had immediate comment.
“While we greatly appreciate our time with Sony and will forever be grateful for all they have done and will continue to do, we look forward to our new chapter in partnership with Universal,” Seoul-based HYBE said Friday.
