I think they had a tour booked and didn't want to cancel it. So, most likely wanted to maximize what they had left. I guess signs were there like lower budget MVs and chasing trends to hope a song goes viral. I think they ultimately lost out when they started to chase trends instead of continuing on the path that helped them stand out.

I think what made them have a strong start they went with a darker quirky concept. Also their sound was good because vocals really stood out and made the song have their own personal touch. However, they didn't really have that strong of a fandom and needed to continue to do what's working instead of chase trends or make songs that weren't them. I felt the group didn't really capture the general audience but had a smaller but dedicated fanbase. However, it's a business and companies need to see more results but them changing their sound to chase trends made them lose fans.
