The Quake is on a subduction zone that is inline with Japan. Japanese saying they did not feel a strong quake. Geologists surmised the Quake ripped a 400 km section of fault line mostly North of the epic center. idk Pacfic Ring of Fire Faults(subduction type) are not interconnect like sheering fault lines. This quake might not increase the Odds for Japan mega quake.

Fukushima Quake was on the a subduction zone. It caused massive landslides in the Ocean inturn caused a massive Tusanami. That was a 7 magnitude quake. This one is nearly 60 times more powerful, much smaller tsunami.

I have experienced many Earthquakes. Small quakes are unnerving. New Jersey had a 2.7 Earthquake.
