It's not something I'm saying just because of the current social climate
I've felt this way consistently since I was young
Even though it's my own country, living here feels suffocating

Of course, I've lived abroad briefly, so I know how convenient and safe it can be
But even so, living in Korea feels like being stuck under the watchful eye of an overbearing mother-in-law
It's suffocating, and I hate living here

The reason living abroad feels easy is because you're a foreigner there. If you actually immigrate and become a full citizen, you'll probably end up feeling frustrated again, just in different ways unique to that country

That's because you only lived there for a short time. I felt the same way, when I lived abroad briefly, I felt so free, like I could escape from reality for a bit. But like I said, that's because you could forget your reality for a while. Once you immigrate and actually become a citizen of that country? That becomes your reality. In the end, it ends up being the same

Honestly, Korea is a good country to live in, but it's the people that are the problem..... It feels like the kind, genuine people from the past are almost all gone, and it's because of the people that I don't want to live in Korea

Everyone copying each other with no individuality, the constant nosiness, judging appearances, always giving unsolicited advice, the long working hours.. there's a lot I hate about Korea too. But since the whole country runs on grinding people 24/7, it is number one when it comes to convenience

I’ve lived in Europe, and Western countries and other places have a lot of f*cked up stuff too, so I can't say they're better than Korea. But separate from that, there are just so many things I really dislike about Korean culture, especially how everyone copies each other, constantly worries about how they're perceived, lacks individuality, blindly follows trends, and how there are these expectations of what you're supposed to achieve at each age. I seriously hate it so much
