The Baeksang (Korea's Emmy Award) - Actress Award - Kim Taeri vs Someone who is more identified as a singer

The Baeksang is Korea's emmy awards. It also awards movies but not too many people care, and with Korean movie industry in the crappers the movie part is weaker.

The category most talked award is the best actress - TV.

Lim Jiyeon of Lady Ok was considered as a candidate but surprisingly she didn't make it to the finalists for an unknown reason.

So the candidates are these five

Go Minsi - the Frog

Kim Hyeyoon - Lovely Runner

Jang Nara - Good Partner

The first two are not the leads in their shows, and while Jang Nara is the lead in Good Partner it did make some stir but did not become dominant, so it is unlikely that they will win.

So the only serious candidates are these two

Kim Taeri - The Star is Born

IU - When Life Gives Tangerines

This is likely to be the only chance the singer who had posted a photo with anchovy would have on winning the best actress award.

While Kim Taeri was thought to be the favorite she already had won before, and The Star is Born also featured Shin Yeeun whose performance was also noted while in Tangerines the performance of Moon Sori was not that noted and other supporting characters, while notable, showed up too briefly to influence the drama and it was mostly the Former Owner of Edam Entertainment who was running the show.

And Tangerines is likely to win the Show of the Year Award.

In the year when the Glory won the Show of the Year Award, Song Hyekyo, its lead, won the Actress of the Year award from the Baeksang.

Granted, the organizers might be a bit reluctant to give the Actress Award to someone who identifies more as a singer, who had done a concert at the Olympic Stadium in 2022 and the Soccer Stadium in 2024.

However, since other candidates are weak, and Tangerines is more on the memory now, it is possible that KPop's Greatest Anachronism might win the Best Actress Award, and if that happens other actresses are unlikely to congratulate her. Go Minsi, who attended one of the Hereh concerts last year, and Kim Hyeyoon, who is less known, might congratulate but Kim Taeri and Jang Nara are unlikely to hide their anger.
