How would you react if someone, who recently went through a break-up, asked you on a date?

    Well... I was randomly reading some silly short story thing that I had written myself (which was kinda a parody of typical teen movies), and there is a part where the main character's crush has recently broken up with his mean girlfriend, and he asks her if she wants to go to a café with him.


    And I was thinking "Imagine if you knew that someone had recently broken up and then they asked you on a date?"

    I don't know how I would feel about it... (I haven't been in a situation like this)



    Even though in that short story, the guy doesn't explicitly call it a date.

    He is more like "Hey, wanna hang out after school?"

    Despite him secretly liking her (but not knowing that she feels the same way)



    I don't know how to explain it, but...

    I imagine that when someone has recently been through a break-up, they probably haven't quite gotten over that person.

    And this would feel like they are trying to find a replacement.


    This also depends on why they broke up.

    Like the guy in my short story broke up with his mean girlfriend because she was... being mean... (but the main character doesn't know the reason behind their break-up)

    I've almost done this to someone before :annoyedk:

    I broke up with my gf cuz I started to feel for someone else, and it was like...emotional cheating in my brain. Anyways they started dating like 2 months after AHAHAH (I never asked/confessed to the person I liked.)

    I would just say okay to hangout if he was my friend and no feels involved. But if it's mentioned date explicitly or there were signs of date then I would hesitate a little and feel awkward because my brain would constantly tell me I their replacement.
