BGs mainly sell you parasocial fantasy, while GGs can not do well, if their music is can not please wide audience. Girlgroups popularity take huge hit, if they can not sustain music that please wide audience, because number of casual listeners they have. Casual listeners are not gonna listen to music they don't like. Girl groups generally have a lot more casual listeners, that's why ggs streaming numbers are a lot higher than bgs, but bgs sell a lot more albums than ggs.
