There is an ongoing fraud case in my country and, it may mirror the business model of HYBE.

Dr. Boon, a famous businessman and a physician has been charged of fraud. He proposed a lucrative investment, a new giant medical center. That center has never been materialized and he has fled out of the country. The damage is estimated to be over 10 billion THB (over 290m USD).

A man who used to be Dr. Boon's chief financier revealed he quit after he was sure something illegal was going on. Dr. Boon was operating various healthcare businesses and, the overall management was indeed in debt. So, there must be some kind of external income to cover the deficit to keep the businesses running. He asked around what this external income was, where it came from but, no one gave him the answer. He could tell that external income was of illegal source.

Now that Dr. Boon reportedly was charged of fraud, he got the answer. Dr. Boon proposed a fake megaproject and used investors' money to cover the loss of his business management.

Dr. Boon grew his business through acquisition. Acquisition can be tricky as some grave problems may be hidden under pretty surface. Who will sell his profitable company in a cheap price? Some businesses Dr. Boon acquired must have some hidden problems and he did not care. He just wanted the image of rapid growth to scam investors and covered the business loss with investment money.

Of course, he, a physician, alone cannot commit a fraud of such scale. Such fraud is only possible with the help from professional broker and auditor.
