Today, the Sun is located directly over the Earth's celestial equator and will transition from the Northern hemisphere to the Southern hemisphere.
This means that globally night and day are almost the same length. You may see a true 12-hour day a little before or after today though.
That depends on which latitude you are located on, and is also because the atmosphere deflects sunlight, so the times we measure as sunrise and sunset don't 100% accurately reflect the Sun's geometrical position.
If you want to acknowledge the equinox today: It is a time of transition, no matter which hemisphere you are on. So, maybe ponder for a minute what shifts you would like to make in your life. And since night and day are in balance for a few days, maybe reflect on the balance in your life.
I don't believe in astrology, but I like following astronomical events to have a brief moment of reflection and connection to nature.
