I actually tried it and it wasn't the case, I don't know if my face is immune to this puffing effect or it's just a Korean slang to ridicule someone's weight gain journey.
Does eating ramen at night actually puffs up your face or it's just Korean mombo Jumbo?

Yeah sodium does have water retention properties so, it's not actually due to ramen, but because ramen have hight amounts of sodium due to all the broths and flavouring.
Thank you for letting me know.

I mean maybe.
Some foods do cause bloating in certain areas. Particularly in the morning, your face can be a little more bloated. Not enough to be overly noticeable to the naked eye, but possibly in photos depending on the angle.
I seriously never noticed it in my face but I know few people who does show this, but their face bloat even if they don't have a proper nap or some other reason.

While there's no scientific evidence specifically linking eating ramen at night to facial puffiness, the idea might stem from the high sodium content in many instant ramen products. Excessive sodium intake can lead to water retention, which may cause temporary puffiness, particularly noticeable in the face. However, this effect isn't exclusive to ramen or nighttime consumption. It's more about the overall balance of your diet and lifestyle rather than one particular food or time of day. So, while it's not exactly "Korean mombo jumbo," there may be some truth to the idea, albeit indirectly.
