for their 5th anniversary they announced a "best of" album of covers of ZARD (SARD UNDERGROUND are the official tribute group of the former)

speaking of ZARD they were active in the early to mid 90s so i wasn't even born yet when they were around but i still think Izumi Sakai was a really cool person, many of the J artists i like mention her as an inspiration (no wonder since they are one of the top 10 best selling J artists ever) so that's definitely a reason to check their stuff but man it just makes me sad to think that she died in the peak of her career...

anyway in the track list appears "Yureru Omoi" which is my favorite of them, cool i don't recall hearing SARD UNDERGROUND's version so that's nice

  • The concerts in recent years have been at scaled down venues (still very respectable in size/quality) so I think there has been a diminishing return. Maybe due to her fans not getting any younger.

I don't disagree though, I think more frequent concerts with maybe more/different songs rotating on/out would be cool and could be a money maker.

Sakai was the ultimate more mystery, less history type of persona and an iconoclast. Arguably she was a trailblazer for other female acts, given the amount of control she had professionally. She also was talented as a vocalist and lyricist and I think she bet on herself. But I also think she was who she was, she clearly did not love performing live, otherwise we would have seen her do more concerts and make a lot of money. She would not do TV appearances, which cost her any chance at awards that other female vocalists received. Her image was cultivated, people only saw what she wanted.

My guess is some folks do know the answers to these, but Being would never let them actually say it.
