I was taught in a school that soap bubbles symbolize the fragility of life. And some vanitas paintings have soap bubbles in them.
And on some website, I had learned that it also can symbolize "lightness, pleasure, access to a world without worries".
I remember when I was looking at ATEEZ's Eternal Sunshine concept photos and some of the photos had soap bubbles on it.
And I thought it would be strange if it symbolized the fragility of life, because the concept photos didn't look so "vanitas", "memento mori" or "life is short and we are all going to die one day" to me.
Like it didn't look like TXT's Chaotic Wonderland to me.
Even though for TXT, I don't know if that was intentional. Like perhaps the person who decided on the soap bubbles was just thinking "because soap bubbles are awesome".
As someone, who writes fanfics and short stories, I often find it fun to look up what something symbolizes.
But often when I have looked it up, it seems like different sources tell me different answers.
Even though, I know that some things don't always symbolize just one thing.
And of course, if you go analyse a short story or something and you are being like "her dress is green and green symbolizes envy" and the short story has nothing to do with envy, then it doesn't symbolize envy.
And if I look up what something in a short story or something symbolizes, it has to make sense for me that it would symbolize that thing.
I remember that I was reading in a "symbolism dictionary" about what orange blossoms symbolize. According to the book, it meant "innocent love" or something, so I had gotten a story idea from it, which was about a person who wanted to be in an innocent romantic relationship and wanted to give his crush an orange blossom.
Even though when I write stuff, I don't always think about symbolism. Like I might make a character wear a green dress, because "why not?".
And sometimes I have my own interpretations of what some things symbolize. (EDIT: I was about to mention how in one fanfic, I wrote, I kinda made umbrella symbolize "protection", and when I looked it up, it actually does symbolize that... but it's kinda obvious.)
