The new trot singer Ryu Jinsook - tokkis are appearing even in older generation of Korea

  • I mostly talked about serious topics so this is a break for me.

    There is a new trot singer named Ryu Jinsook, who never shows up in TV but her trot songs are making headways among some circles.

    Ryu Jinsook - Attention

    ====

    It seems even some older Koreans, staunch trot fans, have begun to pay attention to NewJeans, and a youtube creator saw this niche.

    He arranged (without authorization, of course) NewJeans songs with trot rhythm, and someone gave the name Ryu Jinsook (which sounds like someone in her 40s or 50s, since 'sook' in a woman's name was used commonly around that time but rarely after around 1980) to this fictitious trot singer. The bunnies wear clothes typically worn by someone in their 50s and 60s in Korea.

    It is said that songs by 250 were easier to arrange into trot.

    At the height of its power, SNSD topped the gallup polls in the 40s and 50s, the only idol act which managed that.

    Hopefully this kind of stuff will lessen hostility of the older population of Korea to KPop, and create some older Tokkis.
