Recently I have been thinking, they probably do the ending fairy as a thumbnail because it's convenient and they believe it looks better than a random shot. But I think having a random shot, like everyone did before having ending fairies, actually makes the video look more alive and makes people want to watch the video more because it shows part of the performance.
The first looks more interesting than the second, regardless of the outfit or part of the dance. You can find your own example for any group
One-take thumbnail looks more interesting because it's in the middle of the performance (In motion)
They either accidentally or deliberately have different thumbnails for KBS World TV and KBS Kpop, but all the thumbnails tell you is that these people are in the performance, which a person watching the video probably already knows. The one take looks more interesting.
If you look up "Loona flip that live", I can't find a single video with a non ending fairy thumbnail. Most are of Chuu. But I think if you just skip to a random moment in this video, and pause, it would be a better thumbnail than the ending fairy.
I guess I could understand that in many groups, certain members are super famous or the most beautiful. But I don't know if putting their face as the thumbnail actually significantly helps to get more views. I would think that most people who watch a video watch for the group and the song and the person on the thumbnail doesn't make that much of a difference.
So they should do a shot from further away, or a shot from a random part of the performance (like before ending fairies). Cause it looks better and gives you a better preview of the performance.
