SM feels like a relic of the 00s

    They think the future of kpop is cybernetics and metaverse *chortle*

    Their fans like to say SM create the trends but they are literally just following what was done by others, like the graduation system, "avengers" groups, digital idols

    What was the last 'new and exciting' thing done by SM?

    I was actually thinking about SM and their latest releases these years. Some have been really good, some really boring and disappointing. I don't really feel drawn to their music anymore (unless it's EXO of course (they're my ults lmao) and I've been listening to music from SM ent. since 2009...


    I just don't like the direction they've been going for since a few years back.

    It's clear they're trying to shift to becoming a more cutting edge & experimental company that focuses on the future, (and on China, since China is the future apparently). This is like a huge shift from what they were doing most of the 00s/10s where it was pretty much just "great music, great concepts, and good vibes", which is why so many people think NewJeans aren't to dissimilar from a GG from their classic era. So I kinda get why so many people aren't vibing with their direction anymore.
