Do you think Somi had potential to be super big if she had stayed with JYP?

I feel she really fits the Western pop scene…she would fit in with her looks, her sound is very Western pop and she’s fun and can speak English too. Did joining YG waste her potential when she could be so big under JYP?

She would only be as big as the group at JYPE.

They don't do individual promotions well, so I don't see her somehow blowing up in the West the way BP did.

She might be bigger in Korea if she had joined Twice. Not to say she isn't already big, but she probably would have had a bigger solo hit by now (if JYPE even allowed her to promote solo).

No. JYP doesn't know what to do with solo artists. YG has had more successful soloists and non-idol groups. She got signed with Interscope under THEBLACKLABEL.

YG has a better track record and more success in the West than JYP.

Not me thinking if she's in Lesserafim, she will kill it just like Yunjin. Their concept fits her a lot. But of course it's just a wishful thinking.

But she's already a huge superstar. I get that music itself is still lacking, but as a brand and an entertainment personality, Somi is one of the biggest stars in Kpop already.

• She's one of the most followed Kpop idols on Instagram, only behind the likes of BP girls, IU, Taeyeon etc.
• She went viral for hosting MAMA just last week. Still getting MC roles.
• Has tons of CFs, ambassadorships for brands.

Why do people keep making posts like these? She wouldn't be anywhere as big as she is if she stayed with JYPE or if she joined ITZY. Like that much should be clear by now.

have u guys considered she's not super into making music??? she has a lot of cfs and modeling gigs and whatever else. she's doing just fine

JYP's individual promoting sucks. YG's individual promoting rules, also YG has far better brand power in the West than JYP, this applies to YG (girl) groups and to the individual members in their groups.
