aespa got many offers for cfs and brand deals last year but SM being the horrible company they are, rejected any solo offerings which is why the girls missed out on many opportunities

Yes, because it's totally logical that a greedy company like SM is going to be like "Sorry, but no, we don't want your bag loads of money and exposure for our idol" for absolutely no reason what so ever. Seohyun talked about it on radio star, they rejected the role(it didn't suit her which is weird bc it did suit her) meant for her which led to Suzy getting it and making her the First Love of the Nation title. Then Train to Busan which ended up casting Wonder Girls Sohee. Even said she hates the company, so it was no surprise she left them.

Some speculated it's bc they want what they want for their faves OR those who have the acting role in the group(Yoona). I remember reading sm didn't expect D.O to be a successful actor bc he was not in their plans of making him one.

In aespa case it would be nothing for Giselle and maybe NingNing since it's bad for Chinese idols in SK.

Understandable for the first part about Seohyun but if Seohyun did get it, doesn't mean that it will make her get the First Love of the Nation title. There's a possibility that the movie might not do well with her starring in it. Suzy did well and that skyrocketed her popularity.

Every company at some point will "reject" offers made to them. Obviously they have to be selective. They can't just accept every single thing that comes across their desk.

The differences between someone like Soyeon and Aespa, however, is that Soyeon is actually booked. Every other girl group in SM has had big brand deals. Irene had a shit ton during her tenure as it girl, like Prada for example. SM never shied away from giving their groups brand deals but all of a sudden with Aespa, the ones who were so-called leading 4th gen and even more popular than Red Velvet is barely booked and the only reason is because a money hungry company just doesn't want to make money?

I kinda see both sides here.

Iy's standard to give rookies plenty of promo and comebacks. SM has never been shy to push their idols in the spotlight either. They had Irene, a rookie MC-ing with Bogum who was the it boy back then.

However if I look at pannchoa and other translation sites there's a lot of hype for aespa (Winter/Karina) but hardly any comebacks or promotion. No MC-ing, no foreign collabs with artists, no solo cf's. I wonder what their plans are.

This could be a sign that times have changed or SM has lost direction.
