Mars stops delivering to REWE, EDEKA, PENNY and Netto
Because of a dispute about the price the US-candy producer Mars is stopping to sell their candy to the German supermarket chains REWE, EDEKA and their discounter-subsidiary companies PENNY and Netto.
After a long and intensive discussion there wasn't found any basis, on wich the stores accepted the higher price, says a spokesman of REWE in Cologne. Some demands, who arn't justified because of higher production cost or higher material cost, are "strictly rejected". EDEKA sees it similiar "The prices Mars wants are not justifiable from our point of view", says a EDEKA-spokesman.
Mars sells brands as like Snickers, Mars, Bounty, Airwaves, but also brands like Chappi (dog food), Miracoli (pasta), Uncle Ben's (rice) and ice cream. REWE points their customers towards their own private lables and other brand products. Mars didn't published any statements themselfs yet.
