Use a BHA like salicylic acid. It's oil-soluble that goes deep into the pores. AHAs (like the glycolic acid you got) is more meant for dry skin that has a buildup of dead skin cells on the surface of the skin.
The Inkey List and The Ordinary make a really affordable one that you put on after cleansing. You can also use a salicylic acid cleanser which The Inkey List also makes. There are other common brands like CeraVe as well.

Make sure you use any of these acids (AHAs and BHAs) at night and wear sunscreen during the day, because they can make your skin more photosensitive.
Also consider adding a Niacinamide serum as well, as it can also help treat acne/inflammation. The Ordinary and Inkey List also make them as well.
