They are good yes. But you need more than good music and talent to be number 1. You also need star power from members and right now I don't see any it girl or individual star power to keep them at top. Blackpink and Twice and Red Velvet had individual stars in the group which helped them stay relevant during bad comebacks. Will newjeans stay popular when the inevitable bad comebacks happen?

Their whole image and concept is the friendly, bubbly girls next door and the focus is on youthful relatability and nostalgic sentiments, so the casting of these slightly awkward but charming and likable girls was the whole point to sell their image. Casting one or two overwhelmingly charismatic members that stick out too much will disrupt the harmony of the group and fail to encapsulate the concept they’re trying to sell. They’re actually achieving exactly what their creator wanted to achieve when casting these girls
