    jessica has been blacklisted by sm to promote in sk as a soloist, nice of you to omit that part which hindered her soloist potential badly.

    If you talk only charts, then it's true and Chen and Joy did well too, but in general, all SM soloits do well because they sell lots of albums (mostly above 200k and that's what most groups sell) and they do well in other areas too. Even for people like SNSD Hyoyeon and Yuri who don't seem that popular compared to their SM counterparts, they attract good CF deals which means they are bankable, trusted and still relevant. All Exo members can pull good tour numbers just like SNSD do.


    So it depends on what you consider to measure success.

    Also' Jessica was never unsuccessful. And every soloist that leaves their big label for small especially individual labels like Jessica, the 2NE1 members, Sunmi etc, has to grind hard to succeed. Because they no longer have huge labels to support them.

    if anything she is the proof that you can get blacklisted

    Don't forget TAEMIN please, his solo release were good and he sold a huge amount as well. It's just that SHINEE didn't have a huge fandom as EXO.



    And YES, Jessica was blacklisted (just not officially compared to ex-TVXQ and not as harsh as well). SM probably told Brodcasting TV that their idols/artists will feel uncomfortable to be around Jessica because she is a sunbae to all SM artists (apart from TVXQ, SUJU).


    Jessica always had potential in voal. I always prefered the trio Taeyeon, Tiffany and Jessica over Taeyeon, Tiffany and Seohyun (no hate against her, she is a sweet angel since WGM).

    Jessica's image as ICE PRINCESS as well helped her....good look to her.

    she has been coasting off her snsd success since she left and that's all people know her for, without that she is a mid tier singer and performer and not worth all this attention
