Why do TWICE and ITZY chart so badly the past years?

I know, I know that you can't always have #1 hits always all the time, and that it's also always possible to get a hit song again after a streak of bad ones.

But some other discussion made me rethink about it, that particularly TWICE and ITZY have charted badly for 2, 3 years now compared with the other Big 3 girl groups and other top groups. But why?

Has there been a change in management or musical policies at JYP?

Was it just bad luck?

I mean, Nayeon charted better than TWICE did in 3 years and more, so that shows that JYP still knows what it takes to make a hit song, and how to do well on both Korean and international charts. So why didn't they, or can't they do this with TWICE and ITZY?

What makes the difference?

Having songwriters and producers that are just not that good or consistent, would be my guess.

They should rehire the people who wrote and produced their biggest hits, maybe that will bring back their charting up to their old peak standards.

Their fans aren't ready for the truth, but the reality is that their vocals are too weak to step away from what they've always done. Their physicals are great coz they have huge fandoms. But streaming is low because people just aren't listening to them regularly. There's a lot of newer and shinier groups as well releasing great songs. People are just tired of hearing the same old thing from them over and over again. Itzy in particular has never really strayed far from their noise music. Twice had a bit of a change up, but most of their songs are just Jihyo and Nayeon singing. There's nothing fresh.

Twice songs aren't the cute type the public once liked. In last few years they're pretty forgetful, generic and even boring. It's no surprise Nayeons song doing well in charts and hey sound is closer to Twice cute sound from years ago. Plus their encore fails really tainted people's opinions on them, they became a joke group who can't sing that late into their career.

Itzy songs are polarizing. Either you love it or hate it there's little in between. Obviously the last few releases have been in the hate side seeing their chat performance.
