unless you're living in korea right now, there is no possible way for you to know.
all companies do insane mediaplay so going off articles and made up achievements doesnt count.
charting can give a more reliable measure but at the same time, it has its flaws. just to give perspective, one of nicki minaj's most iconic songs, with lyrics that everyone and their mom knows, super bass, never reached top 5. imagine a bunch of koreans saying super bass wasn't popular because it peaked at #8. theyd sound dumb as hell. or like rn the number one song is drake's jimmy cooks. as someone who listens to the radio all the time and is pretty into western music, ive deadass never heard that song. just to give perspective on how charting isnt the accurate measure you guys want it to be.
a similar thing applies to album sales which is honestly just whoever has the biggest fandom and doesnt have anything to do with how popular a song is.
and pls for the love of god, stop using korean comments you saw. thats obviously just fans talking. i can find probably a thousand comments claiming that amber heard was a popular and successful actress before johnny depp and is that the truth? no, its literally just her fans saying whatever they want.
i dont mind ppl hyping up their faves and saying theyre popular in korea but i hate when ppl put down groups for their korean popularity and start talking about korea and koreans like they live there. you dont. you dont know whats popular there or not.
