Why did Somi’s XOXO flop?

She has some hype from Dumb Dumb, which entered top 10 in the charts, but XOXO made no noise. Why did it flop?

it wasn't as catchy but I don't think it flopped it did ok for that kind of song

Somi is actually quite stable for a soloist. I think all her singles were at least top 40.

Only a few soloists (IU, Taeyeon) do really well every comeback. Soloists are more dependent on the general public than groups, and the GP is fickle. Somi is mostly a GP artist. Her standom isn't that big. As a soloist, you just have to plan for the ups and downs.

I think it was close to #30, and it has over 90M views. A stretch to call that a flop for a soloist. Its performance was similar to her previous singles. It simply wasn't a hit. DD was Somi's first hit, and hits are rare if you are not IU or Taeyeon. That's the reality for soloists. Just ask Chungha.

Even Taeyeon has some misses. only IU so far has beaten the odds. Every TT/Single a #1.

She is an inexplicable phenomenon in Korea.

Somi's problem is similar to but worse than BP.

Very thin discography. But she is still very young and can do well.

I think XOXO is better than DD. Her next cb will do much better.

Exactly. Most soloists are 25-35. Somi is 21. She could literally debut in a new group, go the normal 7 years, disband and then re-debut as a soloist and still be younger than many of the soloists active now.

the song was trash and the way she is being marketed is trash, she is a nobody but being sold as a somebody, telling me someone is popular without putting in the work is the reason she fails
