OP, I think you bring up a really good point. There tends to be this dissonance wherein some fans tend to think a group's success is all up to the members, while their failures are all on the company. Of course, the answer is that neither is perfect. Idols are supposed to project and perfect image, and fans often form extreme attachments to their idols and see them as people who are innocent and can do no wrong. The truth is that they are just as human as the rest of us. Similarly, people tend to demonize companies, but honestly, no company is fully ethical. Some companies are better than others, but they have to make decisions in order to market their groups. Kpop is an industry, and we fans buy into it, so we really can't demonize companies for selling to a willing market IMO.
