stop acting like giselle isnt the most hated kpop idol

  • giselle knows english and she interacts with western fans since she's a kpop/ 1d fan before so she should've known better about the n-word.

she did sing tia tamera by doja and that had the n-word in it but she didn’t use the verse that had the n-word. i think she is familiar with the word but sang it unconsciously/accidentally. it’s good she apologized and hope she won’t do it again in the future.

  • Why is it always English speaking idols that do the most ignorant things

  • Coz speaking English doesn't make you an expert in cultural issues or make you smarter, as clearly evidenced by your comment.

But their non English speaking members rarely get into such situations so what is it about them that makes them act extra ignorant and problematic

  • Mys bringing bp in for no reason

Keep to ur own idols if yall wanna defend them :pepe-hips:

You want me to be honest with you? It's pretty simple. English speakers generally have a higher exposure to other cultures. This doesn't necessarily mean that they understand every nuance around what is right, wrong, controversial/problematic etc. It does generally mean however, that they will be more likely to imitate what they see or hear. Often, this will be because they think it is cool. For example, if all the American movie or tv shows you've ever watched have people throwing around the N-word in a non-derogatory way, then why would someone automatically assume that there is a negative connotation to it? Many of these idols are from very homogenous countries where their exposure to actual racism and such is minimal.

People like you, and many other Americans, don't understand this because you see these things through the lens of your own experiences only.

  • You should change the title to, "Stop acting like Giselle isn't one of the most ignorant kpop idols."

She literally has no excuse. The only reason she even apologized for the "n-word" controversy is because it blew up and SM was afraid it would hurt their super quest to make Aespa into the next BP/BTS, especially since she is the "rapper" (if that's what you want to call what she does) and "English speaker" and they know they can't put her in any other position in the group.

Also, let's not pretend like other idols haven't been dragged for things too. If you do ignorant things, you deserve to be dragged until you're educated enough not to make the same mistake twice. This has happened so many times in SM and kpop as a whole, yet idols are "shocked" and surprised pepe-ooh when they get called out for it.

If they stop doing ignorant things, then maybe people will stop "hating" on them.

  • No one cares about her until she does something wrong because they just don't care about her. She is the least interesting member of aespa.

  • maybe it happen in your fandom or pann/theqoo world because actually no one in kpop industry really care about who is giselle (no offence)
