  • bts don't sell digitals for cheap like other kpop groups. That's why even when they don't get huge number of sales in chinese digitals, they earn more money than others.

  • surprising since they are not on qq music until recently

  • Why is this in anon? You could've earned akorns op

Oh yeah this makes sense. I heard netease was a more expensive platform to have music uploaded on.

Well I’m glad they are finally moving to QQ, the more popular platform like all the other kpop acts.

Their sales will soon catch up

  • What a turn of events.

  • I mean, of course, BTS is the top dog in all metrics. But let's be real, this figure that's represented equals like 600k in usd, that ain't shit. And that's why all this talk of China is meaningless. Selling albums at 10 cents ain't it.

    It’s like 12m usd though.

But you’re right. That’s what people have been saying all this time but kpop stans thought we said this because our faves were flopping in that market. Imagine all these huge groups in china that can’t even break 15 million usd from their lifetime sales. It’s even worse when you look at how many sales some of these groups have. And people wonder why Chinese digitals get weighted down.

This is exactly why this board gets ridiculous. People like to throw out fake numbers everywhere. Where did you get $600k? Please explain. I really like to know how you reached that amount.

    100.00 CNY = 14.95 USD

Simple online conversion my friend. And $12 mil USD is a large large number for majority of groups out there. Most won't make that in their 7 year career from all avenues of income, and to make that from Chinese digital sales alone is a huge number.

  • 12m USD for the very top group is low. Good thing global groups like bts and BP earn more in digitals from US, japan, etc.

What about those acts heavily reliant on CHINA?

    Interesting.

Damn. It's only 12M USD if we convert it to dollars. Meanwhile, BTS topped Japan's sales ranking last year with 160M USD. Crazy. No wonder HYBE don't bother much in China and more focus promoting their groups in Japan. It's still the second biggest market, after all. China is top 5 in the music market now.

    Interesting.

Before, China was very huge in Kpop. It still is for some groups, as we've seen from album sales, but it doesn't hold its power now with kpop ban in the country. Now, no kpop groups can promote there, do brand deals and do a concert. The kpop scene there is basically dead except for china bars bulk buying albums.
