Does Korea Streaming service work in Total Streams or Unique listeners? like in terms of music royalties who ends having more money?

    I have noticed like we care much more about unique listeners but not streams...

    like spotify works in terms of streams.. does melon and genie do the same?

    Well I think it’s a trade off.


    There’s some limit like 10 streams or something per person per day in Spotify I think.


    100 ppl who stream 10 times will give 1000 valid streams worth of royalty but UL is 100

    But if 500 ppl streams only once that’s only 500 valid streams but ULs is 5 times more.


    In this case streams > ULS


    Korean services should work in a similar way. You can look at Gaon digital index it directly represents how much money is made. Gaon filters streams A LOT. So unique streams matter more looks like.
